Clarity in Communication

by Bronwyn

Communication requires three parts. Self, the other person and the content. If you leave a part out it is not effective communication. If you remove the ‘self’ from communication then you are disconnected from the conversation and take no ownership or responsibility in the communication. If you disregard ‘the other person’ then they feel left out and not included. And if your whole conversation is about content and there is no ‘self or other’ in it then nobody takes responsibility and the conversation or communication doesn’t move forward. Think about these three elements of communication for a moment. Leaving any part out creates confusion and even anxiety for both parties involved.
